As the Elite Program Coordinator, I want to share some really outstanding news with all parents.
Each year in Canadian high schools (just like in Chinese high schools I'm sure), a Student Council is elected. This Council helps the Principal to plan throughout the year and provides important advice to school administration. Students who wish to be a member of the Student Council must run in an election, just like they would in a regular political election in the real world. They must have the courage to give a speech in front of the entire school asking for the support of their fellow students.
作为Elite项目的负责人，我想和所有家长分享一些非常好的消息：
就像很多国内的高中一样，加拿大的高中每年都会进行学生会选举。学生会主要负责协助校长完成学年计划并且提供有效的建议给学生的行政工作。学生们需要在全校师生面前进行演讲并且为自己拉票，最后通过投票来决定谁将成为下一个学生会的会员。

At Clarkson Secondary School, there are two spots on this Student Council to represent all international students in the school. And, to our absolute delight and admiration, four of our NFE students ran for the positions. This requires them to run a "political" campaign in order to convince ALL international students in the school to vote for them. Can you imagine the courage this must have taken? I would have been scared to death, but these young leaders continue to absolutely amaze me.
这次的学生会选举中，Clarkson高中将会选出两名同学作为国际学生部门的代表。我们非常开心的是这次纽菲尔得Elite精英班有四位同学参加了角逐，他们分别是Patrick, Adonis, Summer以及Jonny.对此，我们为他们感到骄傲。虽然英文不是他们的母语，但是他们却能勇敢的在全校师生面前进行演讲，为国际留学生发声。为此，我们和孩子们的家长都感觉到十分欣慰。
Jonny and Adonis were two of the students who ran, but unfortunately, they were not elected. To be honest, that doesn't really matter - just the fact that they ran and had the courage to make a speech in front of the whole school is an AMAZING accomplishment. Congratulations to Jonny and Adonis – you have done an outstanding job!
Jonny和Adonis是其中两个参选的学生，不幸的是他们没有竞选成功。但老实讲这并不重要，因为他们的勇气已经打动了所有人。即使最后的结果不是很令人满意，但是只要尝试过，尽力了，就不会有遗憾。加油Jonny和Patrick,一次的失败并不代表什么，这也会成为你们人生宝贵的经验，我们相信你们的未来是不可限量的！
Summer and Patrick were the other two students who ran for positions, AND THEY WON!
So, for the school year 2019-2010, Summer & Patrick will be members of the Clarkson student Council providing advice and counsel to the Principal. I heard from the staff at Clarkson who said their speeches were outstanding and they had the audience on their feet cheering for them. There is another program at Clarkson for aspiring football players - the boys in that program are big, rough, tough boys - and apparently, Summer and Patrick even had them on their feet cheering for them.
虽然Adonis和Jonny落选了，但是令人振奋的是Summer和Patrick成功的当选了2019到2020学年的学生会国际代表。我从Clarkson的老师们那里听到了对他们的夸赞，说他们的演讲很出色，结束后观众都了站起来为他们欢呼。更了不起的是，除了其他老师和学生外，Summer和Patrick更是赢的了Clarkson足球队队员的掌声。你们能想象吗？平时一群高大威猛，活泼好动的男生们竟然能安安静静的听完我们的学生的演讲，并且深深的被打动，给与支持。再次恭喜Summer以及Patrick,你们真的很棒！
